Oil Change

Schedule an Oil Change in Oxford, PA

Getting an oil change can feel like a chore, and you wouldn’t be the first person to let it go for longer than you should. However, getting your oil changed every 3,000 miles or as your owner’s manual recommends helps your car or truck last longer, drive better, and maintain its value. Clean motor oil keeps your engine lubricated and operating the way it should, and it also helps to filter out dust and grime. This dirt and grime that the oil picks up makes the oil not as effective, thus, needing to be changed out regularly! This can make the oil start to become a sludge and lead to negative effects on the overall performance of your engine. Usually lowering fuel efficiency, and eventually causing complete engine failure. Keep your engine running cleanly by reducing friction and providing enough lubrication with fresh oil and a full-service oil change from Jeff D' Ambrosio of Oxford Mitsubishi. Signs You May Be Due For an Oil Change

  • Check Engine or Oil Change Light is On. This is the most obvious sign that you will receive that will tell you something is wrong with your oil. Check the dipstick to see how much oil you currently have
  • Excess Vehicle Exhaust. Modern vehicles typically do not release visible exhaust from the tailpipe. Smoke trailing behind your vehicle may indicate that your motor oil has become too old to function properly.
  • Dirty and Dark Colored Oil. Clean oil is typically amber in color and slightly translucent. To check the oil color, remove the dipstick and wipe off the excess oil. Return the dipstick to the tank and take it out for the second time. If you can not see the dipstick through the oil, it may be time to replace your oil.
  • More Mileage Than Normal. If you have just returned from a long road trip, or traveled a lot more within the last month or so, you may want to change oil sooner than your normal schedule.
  • Engine Noises and Knocking. Oil provides a protective layer between engine parts. When driving with bad quality oil, your engine may make a knocking sound while the vehicle is in motion. Oil issues can also lead to ticking sounds when starting your vehicle, and shaking while in idle.
